From late 2020 to early 2021, I orchestrated a project that explored how social distancing restrictions during Coronavirus impacted creative collaboration. Commentated through a series of blog posts, graphic design Joshua Bennett and myself created a short film looking at different people's experiences of lockdown. I focused on soundtracking the film, whilst Joshua put together the video clips and finalised our storyboard. We both filmed clips for the project, and interviewed people from around the world to get different perspectives on what lockdown was like for them, helping us to create a cohesive theme and structure for the film.
From sending SD cards and USB sticks in the post to conversations on Zoom, we were both pushed out of our comfort zones. It quickly became an all consuming project, making us both challenge and change our creative routines and processes. Although frustrating and slow at times, the process of making the film was an enlightening project, and is one that I look back on warmly.
